Met, Carnegie Hall, NY Phil shut down through March 31

UPDATED: The Metropolitan Opera and Carnegie Hall announced Thursday that they are closing through March 31 due to concerns about the coronavirus.

The New York Philharmonic did so as well about an hour later.

“The safety and security of our audiences and employees is the Met’s highest priority, and in canceling performances, we are following the lead of our city, state, and federal elected officials as well as the recommendations of the Department of Health and the Centers for Disease Control (CDC),” said a statement on the Met website

The value of tickets from cancelled Met performances will be credited to patrons’ accounts. metopera.org; 212-363-6000.

Carnegie Hall credit-card purchases will be automatically refunded. carnegiehall.org
