The Metropolitan Opera reached an agreement early Monday morning with the musicians union and chorus. The deadline has been extended to Tuesday for coming to terms with Local One and the other unions with unsettled contracts remaining.

“After many hours of deliberation, today we have reached a tentative agreement which is subject to the approval of Local 802’s executive board and ratification by the MET Orchestra Musicians,” said Tino Gagliardi, president of the local Associated Musicians of Greater New York AFM union, which represents the Met musicians.

A statement on the Met website said that the company “remains hopeful” that the 2014-15 season will open on time as scheduled September 22 with Mozart’s Le nozze di Figaro.
