Anna Netrebko has withdrawn from the first two performances of Donizetti’s L’Elisir d’Amore, the Metropolitan Opera announced late Tuesday.  The Russian soprano is suffering from the flu, yet at the present time is still scheduled to sing the remaining dates.

Andriana Chuchman will sing the role of Adina January 9 and 13, replacing Netrebko.  Thursday’s performance will be Chuchman’s Met debut. The Canadian soprano was already scheduled to make her Met debut next month as Miranda in the Met’s Enchanted Island.

Saw L’Elisir d’Amore last evening, Janury 13, 2014 and it was wonderful. Andriana Churchman was outstanding as were all the cast members.
